The Val de l'Hort: history & values
Meeting, sharing, tolerance
The Val de l'Hort is a non-profit "law 1901" association.
The Val de l'Hort aims to promote a taste for encounter as a means of personal development, the discovery of the Cévennes country as a means of education in natural and cultural heritage, and international exchanges to learn to live the difference.
For this, the Association has a structure with all the approvals for the reception of various audiences, in optimal health and safety conditions.
Thanks to this tool, the Val de l'Hort is developing a very specific ethic of sharing, discovery of others and tolerance.
This social dimension is extended by the hiring and training of people in difficulty.
In order to promote social diversity, the association wishes to promote access to the center for as many people as possible, with prices studied as accurately as possible and flexible services.
A brief history of the Association:
- 1967: acquisition and development of the site by the National Committee of YMCA France
- 1986: creation of the Association called “Village Unioniste Cévenol”, affiliated to the National Alliance of UCJG. Opening of the reception and accommodation center for hosting youth camps and summer camps. The reception capacity increases from 45 to 70.
- 1993: membership of UCRIF (Union of International Meeting Centers of France)
- 1994: change of name, the Association becomes "Val de l'Hort"
- 2002: Tourism and Disability label
- 2005: UCRIF becomes Ethic Etapes, Val de l'Hort too
- 2007: renovation and expansion of the building: the center now has 100 beds in rooms and 42 in tents
